چکیده

a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t It is well known that some ferromagnetic properties like Curie temperature are size dependent. In this Letter we will report that the spin-reorientation temperature of Nd 2 Fe 14 B material is also size dependent. By using a surfactant-assisted ball milling technique, Nd 2 Fe 14 B nanoparticles with different size about 6, 20 and 300 nm were successfully obtained. Spin-reorientation transition temperature of the NdFeB nanoparticles was then determined by measuring the temperature dependence of DC and AC magnetic susceptibility. It was revealed that the spin-reorientation transition temperature (T sr) of the nanoparticles is strongly size dependent. T sr of the 300 nm particles is lower than that of the bulk raw material while the T sr of the 20 nm particles is significantly lower than that for the 300 nm particles. The physics behind this size dependence is discussed.

Orbital magnetic moment instability at the spin reorientation transition of Nd2Fe14B

Highly accurate soft-XMCD data recorded on a Nd2Fe14B single crystal, through the spin reorientation transition show that the average Fe orbital moment (a) is proportional to the macroscopic Fe anisotropy constant, and (b) diverges 15 K below the reorientation transition temperature. This divergence is indicative of a critical behavior and it is related to a tetragonal distortion. These results...

Probing fractal magnetic domains on multiple length scales in Nd2Fe14B.

Using small-angle neutron scattering, we demonstrate that the complex magnetic domain patterns at the surface of Nd2Fe14B, revealed by quantitative Kerr and Faraday microscopy, propagate into the bulk and exhibit structural features with dimensions down to 6 nm, the domain wall thickness. The observed fractal nature of the domain structures provides an explanation for the anomalous increase in ...

Temperature dependence of the surface anisotropy of Fe ultrathin films on Cu(001).

We report an experimental approach to separate temperature dependent reversible and irreversible contributions to the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy of Fe films grown at low temperatures on Cu(001) substrates. The surface anisotropy K(S)(T) is found to decrease linearly with temperature, causing a thermally induced spin reorientation into the plane. The irreversible shift of the spin reorien...

Temperature and frequency dependent giant magnetodielectric coupling in DyMn0.33Fe0.67O3

Perovskite DyMn0.33Fe0.67O3 experiences a paramagnetism-antiferromagnetism transition at 450K and spin reorientation at 290 K. Magnetodielectric properties were studied around the spin reorientation transition. Both giant positive and giant negative magnetodielectric coupling (MDC) were observed near room temperature. The MDC shows strong temperature and frequency dependence, and the sign chang...

Spin-reorientation magnetic transitions in Mn-doped SmFeO3

Spin reorientation is a magnetic phase transition in which rotation of the magnetization vector with respect to the crystallographic axes occurs upon a change in the temperature or magnetic field. For example, SmFeO3 shows a magnetization rotation from the c axis above 480 K to the a axis below 450 K, known as the Γ4 → Γ2 transition. This work reports the successful synthesis of the new single-...
